Communique is the second studio album by Dire Straits, originally released in 1979 as the follow-up to the band’s successful debut.
The album continues the band’s understated mix of rock, blues, country and folk-influenced songwriting, built around Mark Knopfler’s clean fingerstyle guitar tone and relaxed vocal delivery. Tracks such as Once Upon A Time In The West, Lady Writer, Where Do You Think You’re Going? and Portobello Belle show the band’s precise, spacious and quietly confident sound.
This Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab numbered 45RPM 2LP edition is pressed on 180 g vinyl and mastered from the original analogue master tape using Mobile Fidelity’s chain: 1/4″ / 15 IPS analogue master to DSD 256 to analogue console to lathe. The 45RPM format gives the music more groove space and helps present the album with greater openness, separation and low-level detail.
